Through their day-to day contact with pupils and direct work with families, our  staff have a crucial role to play in noticing indicators of possible child abuse or neglect. All teaching staff and support staff receive regular Child Protection training.  If it appears to a member of staff that a child may have been abused or neglected, the school is required to report these concerns to the Wakefield District Safeguarding Children Board.

Designated Senior PersonShould you need to speak to someone in school about a Safeguarding or Child Protection issue, the Designated Senior Persons (DSP) for Child Protection and Safeguarding at Altofts Junior School are the Headteacher, Mrs Tracey Peacock;  the Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Nicola Crossley; the Pupil Welfare Manager, Mrs Colleen Foreman and the Behaviour Support Teacher, Mr Tuxford. Our Nominated Safeguarding Governor is Miss Jane Sinclair.
